Italian tennis legend draws a challenging line for Jannik Sinner

Former Italian tennis legend Nicola Pietrangeli recently joined in the line of praise for Jannik Sinner’s remarkable achievements on the court. Pietrangeli highlighted Sinner’s exceptional qualities, stating, “He just won a Slam, and the ranking is always a consequence of great victories.” He also noted that Sinner, along with other few ones, is currently among the top players in the world. “At the moment he, Djokovic, Alcaraz, and Medvedev are on the same level, and in the last three months perhaps Jannik has had something more,” he added.

However, Pietrangeli appeared to be cautious on being asked about a confirmation of Sinner’s position relative to Djokovic. He said, “Honestly, I would be very careful about considering Djokovic finished. He is a phenomenon in possession of a thousand resources.” He emphasized Djokovic’s adaptability along with suggesting that the Serbian player should not be underestimated.

Jannik Sinner, who held the second position in the ATP power rankings, is now the talk of the tennis world after winning in Rotterdam. He’s been on fire lately, beating some tough opponents and earning his spot as the number one player, overtaking the tennis elite Novak Djokovic.

Falling on the second number, Djokovic hasn’t played since losing in Melbourne against the young Italian. While he hasn’t been participative since then, it is surely not a surprise that Sinner has overtaken his position.

While both the players are set to be a part of the immense action at Indian Wells, it remains to be seen how long he manages to maintain his lead of being in the number one position.
