The world’s number-one tennis star Novak Djokovic‘s wife, Jelena Djokovic, recently disheartened the Djokovic fans with a sad update about the ongoing Australian Open. She shared that she won’t be able to support her husband with her presence in the tournament this season. Now this news has concerned Djokovic’s fans. They think that the tennis stalwart’s wife is busy with her work and it might impact his performance.

After last year’s historic Australian Open win, Djokovic expressed his heartache for staying away from his wife and kids for long. Last year, Djokovic’s father Srdjan refrained from attending Rod Laver Arena after a controversy with pro-Russia Australian supporters. Djokovic’s wife was also absent from the venue. Now once again, Jelena Djokovic’s post has saddened the Djokovic fans.

Jelena recently dropped a question on her official X (formerly Twitter) for the Djokovic fans. She asked- “Hey #Nolefam  Who is in Australia for the @AustralianOpen? Let me know in the comments.” As a response to this question, one fan asked whether Jelena Djokovic was attending the tournament this time. Now, breaking fans’ hearts, she dropped a set of emojis with a “Nope”. From the emojis, fans can understand that she is referring to her hectic work schedule as a reason for her absence.

Last year, Djokovic expressed his sadness about staying away from his family. However, this tennis stalwart credited her wife for choosing to take care of their kids so that Djokovic could make his dreams come true.

He said- “Being absent from the children is not something that makes me very happy. It’s a balancing act between me and my wife and the close people in my life. So her being there for our children and everything, it allows me to be able to do what I love and still make some strides, significant strides, in this sport.

Family is genuinely a big support for Djokovic. In the last season, he tried his best to protect his father’s image amid the ongoing pro-Russian controversy. While his father still chose to stay away, Djokovic mentioned how painful it was for him to not see his father being a witness to his victories.

While Djokovic tried all his means to defend his father over their pro-Russian affirmation, Srdjan still didn’t attend the finals of the tournament to avoid controversy. After his victory, Djokovic said in a press conference- “I thought the things will calm down in terms of media and everything, but it didn’t. We both agreed it would probably be better that he is not there, That hurts me and him a lot because these are very special, unique moments. Who knows if they repeat again. So it was not easy for him. I saw him after the match, of course. Yeah, he was not feeling his best, let’s say, even though he was very happy to hug me and of course with everything. I could see that, yeah, he’s a bit sad.”
