Carlos Alcaraz has been a sensation in men’s tennis, having won his maiden Grand Slam at the age of 19. He plays such high-quality tennis that he has proved on many occasions that he is the only player on tour currently that can trouble Novak Djokovic on a regular basis. Novak Djokovic is unbeaten at Grand Slams this year so far and seems to be in ominous form, unstoppable every time he steps onto the court. With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal not around and the next generation of players not having the mental edge over Djokovic, it looks like only Alcaraz can befuddle the Serb with his tennis.

Boris Becker, who coached Djokovic from 2013-2016, has heaped praise on Alcaraz. Becker says that even when he first saw Alcaraz play, he could see that Alcaraz was a ?special player?. But at the same time, he also doesn’t forget to warn that beating Djokovic on the Wimbledon turf in the final will be his ‘toughest match’.

Alcaraz’s ‘toughest match’

Former world No.1 and 6-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker has forewarned Alcaraz that beating Djokovic at the Wimbledon final would be the toughest match of his career. Becker posted a story on Instagram on Tuesday that read, “What do you want to know from me? Let me know your questions.”

One of the tennis fans asked a question, “Could Alcaraz beat Djokovic?” Becker replied, “Alcaraz could be anyone at any time, but beating Djokovic in the Wimbledon final will be the toughest match of his career.”

Can Alcaraz stop Djokovic?

In the highly volatile clash between him and Djokovic at this year’s French Open he gave in to nervousness. This led to cramps and that in turn led to Djokovic capitalizing on it, leading the Serb to a cozy victory. It is not that Alcaraz cannot beat Djokovic – he has shown glimpses of the possibility in the past, a recent one being in the French Open semi-final second where he outplayed Djokovic to win the second set.

If both Djokovic and Alcaraz headline the summit clash at the Wimbledon Championships 2023, the overwhelming favorite would be Djokovic because of his experience and record. As for the top-ranked Spaniard, this is his least favored surface, and though he has gradually improved very well, one can’t be sure if he has the necessary ammunition to outclass Djokovic.

Like Becker said it will be Alcaraz’s toughest match in his career if they meet in the final and the unpredictable nature of the sport will add to the drama. The deserving player will surley emerge as the victor.
