World no. 1 Novak Djokovic solidified his position atop the ATP tour as he secured a win in the first round of the Rolex Paris Masters. As his first match against Tomas Etcheverry turned out to be a walk in the park, it brought him closer to ending the season as number one. Now, his victory over Tallon Griekspoor has further solidified his position. But the start of the match was not a delight for Djokovic as he lost the first set.

After this, he took a medical break and was handed some ‘pills’ by his team. Tennis fans know that this is not the first time Djokovic has taken a break when his opponent had the upper hand in a match. Let’s see what they have to say about it.

Tennis fans throw in their assumptions as Novak Djokovic takes a ‘medical break’ after the first-set loss

A Twitter page posted how after losing the first set in the second round match, Novak Djokovic took a break as he did not feel well. During the break, his doctor handed him a medication that he took, and guess what, the Djoker has won the final two sets and the match. And that is what most of the fans are starting to point out.

One of the comments was, “The famous magic potion once he is losing.

Fans believe that whenever he starts to lose, he takes a break to come back stronger. And this is his way of powering up for the better.

The next comment was, “Magic pills incoming.” Tennis fans firmly believe that Djokovic takes some ‘magic pills’ that power him right up for the next round.

Another comment of a fan read, “He started theater again. I wasn’t watching the match; I opened the score and saw that he lost a set. So, I’m not surprised at all. Whenever the opponent plays well, he tries to cool it down.” (Google Translate)

Fans assume it is all part of a clever ploy to disrupt the rhythm of his opponents.

The next comment that popped up was, “Lost MTO set and miraculous recovery? Let him come up with something new, please” (Google Translate). Twitter users also feel that this is an old trick used by Djokovic multiple times and they have had enough of this.

One of the fans also used a GIF to make it more comical. The comment was, “Well it’s a tale as old as time.” Fans want to know why Djokovic pulls the same trick again and again when he is losing.

The last of the comments was, “Nah, classic Nole move… Back in a sec to win the next two sets without even blinking.” Well, this actually turned out to be true because after his ‘medical break’, Djokovic won the next two sets to move to the next round.

That said, this is not the first time tennis fans have accused Djokovic of disrupting a match after losing a set. The same allegation came in his match against Stefanos Tsitsipas and his doctor offered him a drink.

A similar incident happened last year at the ATP Paris Masters

Last year, in the semifinal match between Tsitsipas and Djokovic, his team was mixing a secret ingredient in a drink and handed it to him. After the incident, Djokovic won the match he had almost lost and it certainly led to many questions from fans and pundits.

Fans mentioned that this was very dodgy and they need an explanation as to why this is being allowed or happening. Some people on social media also claimed that he was consuming a banned substance. The allegations may or may not be true, but the pattern sure sticks.
