What factor determines the greatest of all time in any sport? While this debacle is going around a lot in the tennis world, among Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, different people have shared different perspectives with which they look at the GOAT debacle. While some thank the impact that Federer left, some of them go the other way around and believe that the Serb’s contribution makes him the GOAT.

But recently, one of the 42-year-old tennis legend’s good friends, Jim Courier, shared his feelings about crowning Novak Djokovic as the undisputed GOAT. Let’s take a look at what the 53-year-old American has to say about the GOAT debacle.

As all three of them belong to the same era, the four-time Grand Slam champion recently highlighted how the GOAT battle is something that depends on fact-based discussion. Recently, Courier, in an interview with a tennis channel, opened up about how the discussion over the greatest might have reached its final stages as he picked Djokovic as the GOAT.

He stated, “These are guys that played in the same era, so we do have a head-to-head here and what get it there’s the feelings over here of this is my guy, this is who I like to watch this is who captivated me for so long.” Along with sharing what fans believe and think as they have all the head-to-head data of the three players contesting for the GOAT title.

Further, Courier added, “I appreciate your feelings we love passion in the sport we do. But this argument is at this side of the table this is a fact-based discussion about achievement, not style it’s achievement and that’s a hands-down trunk Slammer for Djokovic today.” But at the end, even after being someone who was so close to the 20-time Grand Slam champion, he was so close that he was even present at the Laver Cup when Federer retired.

Moreover, the 53-year-old former tennis player clearly shared his belief that the number of Grand Slam titles determines the end of the road, citing Djokovic as the GOAT. A few months ago, Andre Agassi’s ex-coach, Darren Cahill, talked about the Serb being the one, and at the same time, he highlighted that all three of them can be tennis fans’ favorites altogether.

Andre Agassi’s ex-coach’s honest revelation regarding the GOAT debacle

During the Advantage Connors podcast last year, Cahill—a former player and coach known for his work with Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi—made an important announcement. Without any hesitation, he said, “To win 24 of these things. The guy is the greatest though I’ve ever seen. I don’t think there’s any question about this anymore.”

While acknowledging that Novak Djokovic is the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) and doesn’t need universal preference, Cahill nonetheless expressed admiration for Djokovic’s accomplishments. He stated, “But to do what Novak’s done and come from way behind when Rafa and Roger had a big Grand Slam total, and actually pass them on the Grand Slam total; remarkable performance.” Along with that, he also highlighted how we can have all three of them as favorites in the same arena even after choosing a name for the debacle.
