Novak Djokovic has continued his dominance in the sport and shows no signs of slowing down. However, the Djoker is not only competing but is keenly eyeing the younger players to learn about the possible future of the sport. One player who has caught his eye is Holger Rune. He even went on to say that he sees himself in the Danish youngster, who accepted the compliment while ascertaining him as the biggest challenge.

Rune and Djokovic have grown closer as the Dane is being coached by the former Serbian’s guide. Boris Becker has played a big role in helping the Djoker succeed and will now help Rune, which is likely to make the Serbian find more of himself in the ATP young gun.

Novak Djokovic emerges as the ultimate test for Holger Rune

Holger Rune has steadily climbed the ATP ladder to find himself amongst the biggest stars of the sport. Now, he is being coached by a legend of the sport, Boris Becker. Speaking to Bola Amarela, Rune dived into his plans for the future.

Rune was first asked what he thought when he learned that the Djoker said he sees a bit of himself in the Danish star. He replied, “I accept that as a huge compliment. I mean… Novak managed to achieve everything we dreamed of.”

Further, he was asked what victory he would want to choose for the 2024 season, if he could pick one. Holger Rune said, “Now I want to have great results on outdoor hard ground. I’ve done very well on clay, grass and indoor hard courts, so now it’s time to show off my outdoor hard court tennis. That’s why my choice would be the Australian Open final against Novak.”
