2022 Australian Open had all the drama one could imagine. The inaugural Grand Slam of the season saw Rafael Nadal win his 21st Slam, while Ashleigh Barty ended a long wait for an Australian player to win the home major. Daria responded, “The younger generation, of course, likes the behavior of Nick, Dani. But the behavior of the second is definitely better. Kyrgios often goes too far.”

Daniil Medvedev had his share of fights against the on-court personnel, like ball kids, chair umpires, and even slow serving Felix Auger-Aliassime. He later showed regret in his postgame interview for his comments about Felix.
Certainly, both players were slapped with hefty fines for their behavior on the court in the Australian Open 2022. The Russian paid fines of $12,000 for offensive comments to the chair umpires, and the Aussie paid a $10,000 fine in the Slam.

Daria Kasatkina gives her take on Daniil Medvedev and Nick Kyrgios’ behaviour
Being expressive on the court is not a bad thing. Many players rather have accepted that it helped them in the game; to express their inner feelings on the court right away. But at what point does a line need to be drawn is a difficult question that Daria tried to answer.
Kasatkina said, “What happened in the match with Tsitsipas: yes, Danya was right, but he went too far. In the situation with the judge, Medvedev was right, but he presented it not quite correctly. It was too rough for me.”

As per Daria, such behavior does attract young crowds. Nick, well known for his unique style of play and underarm services, lured many people to his matches. Daria said, “The same is Nick, but he often makes scandals over absurd things. Of course it’s fun.”
