World No.2 Daniil Medvedev got off to a great start at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Facing Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in the first round of the tournament, the Russian enjoyed a comfortable victory. He thrashed his opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 7(10)-6(8), and advanced to the second round of the competition.

In a recent interview, Medvedev took a dig at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 organizers over the duration of changeovers during the matches. He believes that the one-minute time is a joke and it should be certainly more than that.

“The fact that we have only one minute between changeovers is a joke,” said Medvedev in the interview.

Usually, the time duration between changeovers is 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes in a tennis match. However, at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, it’s just one minute with which the World No.2 player is definitely angry.

“It should be 1:30”- Daniil Medvedev on the ideal time for changeovers

Medvedev stated that if one asks 200 tennis players playing at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 about the time for the changeovers, about 195 of them will say that one minute for it is a joke. He highlighted that it should be at least 1 minute and 30 seconds like it usually is at most of the tennis tournaments in Asia.

“I think if you ask 200 tennis players here, I think 195 will say one minute is a joke. It should be 1:30 like it is in Asian tournaments,” added the Russian player.

After playing some fantastic tennis in the first round, Daniil Medvedev will now advance to the round of 32 at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Fans have high expectations of him and want him to deliver some more incredible performances. Will he be able to win an Olympic Gold for his country this year?
