Andrey Rublev, who had to sit out of the Wimbledon Championships this year, has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals. He will join the Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, the Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz, and the winner of two Grand Slam titles, Rafael Nadal. The Russian tennis ace seems high on energy and form, as he looks forward to participating in the ATP Finals.

Rublev is enjoying spending time with the top players. He recently indulged in a friendly banter with Nadal and fans loved the interaction between the two. Here’s what happened.

Rafael Nadal and Andrey Rublev’s fun banter

While gearing up for a serve, Rublev jokingly gave Nadal the finger. The 22-time Grand Slam champion later replied in his own unique style as he grabbed the neck of a resting Rublev. Though both ended up laughing about the incident. As a response to this, a fan wrote, Oh no Andrey, you didn’t only Roger is allowed to do that.” 

Others started sharing their thoughts as well. Some mentioned how their behavior reminded them of a father-son duo.

Further, other set of people gave it an entirely different shape. They teased Rublev for acting sly around his idol.

Rublev and Nadal’s first opponents

In the opening match, the 25-year-old will lock horns with compatriot and former World no.1 Daniil Medvedev. This will be their sixth meeting and Rublev will look forward to securing his 2nd victory against Medvedev. They are scheduled to clash on 14th November.

Speaking of Nadal after facing an opening-round dismissal in the Paris Masters, he will look forward to a deep run in the season-ending tournament. The Spaniard will meet the Indian Wells champion, Taylor Fritz, in the first group-stage match. They will square off for the fourth time and the American will eye a win in order to settle the score and avenge his Wimbledon quarterfinals defeat. Nadal and Fritz’s battle will also take place on 14th November.
