Andy Murray has lost 1,122 followers since Elon Musk has taken over Twitter. However, the Brit feels it may not be because of the deal. Instead, he blames it on his own content. Murray is currently practicing on the clay court following a wildcard entry confirmation into next month’s Madrid Open.

Murray has a hilarious reason for his loss of Twitter followers

After much controversy, Elon Musk finally bought the social media giant Twitter in a whopping $44 billion deal. Even though the SpaceX and Tesla founder has promised to make Twitter the most useful social media platform, the deal has come in with an unreasoned happening. As per reports, many Twitter users have lost out on their followers since the announcement of the deal.

Amongst the many users, a large portion consists of tennis players. Counting on to that, recently, a Twitter handle released a list of a fall in the number of followers of prominent tennis athletes. The list was topped by Serena Williams, who has lost 3,694 followers now. It was followed by Martina Navratilova with 1,656 and Naomi Osaka with 1,435.
The next in line is Brit sensation Andy Murray who has lost 1,122 followers till now.

Even though the players might be trying to figure out the reason for this loss, that isn’t the case with Murray. Learning about the fall in followers, Murray took no time in replying to the information. Taking to his Twitter, Murray quoted the above tweet, replying to it. Taking a fun dig, he said “May also be because our content is s**t.”

Even with the loss in place, Murray continues to have 3.5 million followers on Twitter.

On the tennis front, Andy Murray has been having a not so pleasant season since the start of 2022. Out of the 8 tournaments played so far, the former World No. 1 has managed to cross the second round on just one occasion. He last played the Sunshine Doubles, suffering a second-round exit in both tournaments.

Murray had previously announced that he would be missing the clay-court season. However, reversing his decision, he will now play the Madrid Open scheduled to start from 1st May.
