Holger Rune, an emerging Danish player, understands this and thus parted ways with the former coach of tennis legend Serena Williams, Patrick Mouratoglou. With a change in the coaching staff, he decided to try his hands on Boris Becker, a former grand slam winner to him him emulate the success that he once got as a professional player.

In a recent interview, Rune went ahead and did not shy away from reflecting on the instant impact that the German legend has brought. He also sheds light on the bond that they have and how he would be the most ideal person to step in to his coaching roles.

Holger Rune suggests that a change in the coaching staff turns fruitful for him

Holger Rune recently experienced a positive impact from his week-long training with legendary tennis champion Boris Becker. Rune, in a recent interview, talked about the impact that Boris Becker brought in with his understanding of the game and his leadership skills.

Becker’s interest in tennis and occasional words of wisdom to Rune during his formative years strengthened their bond. Rune points out that Becker has been there to support him whenever needed. Becker possesses the ability to connect with Rune’s emotions, as he did the same during his years as a professional player.

“I have known Boris for a long time. He follows tennis a lot & he has written to me a few times. When was a little younger, he gave me some tips & tricks. There he showed that he supports me. You can feel it. It’s a really a big difference. He can feel what I’m feeling. He doesn’t just say what he thinks I’m feeling. He can feel it because he’s been in those situations himself. So it’s a different sensation & feeling,” said Holger Rune in the interview.

Thus, Rune’s partnership with the six-time Grand Slam champion, Boris Becker is something to notice when he steps on the tennis courts. Still early in his career, he would be looking to make the most use of the guidance that he gets through Boris and help change the trajectory of his career.

Rune’s mother reflects on Boris Becker coaching her son

While the rumors of a possible union between the two could come to light, Rune’s mother revealed the real reason why the two practised together in Monaco. In a recent interview, she said that Holger’s head coach Lars was in Denmark because of which Boris Becker stepped in to give Rune some tennis lessons.

“He [Becker] helped Holger this week because Lars [Holger’s coach] was in Denmark”, said Rune’s mother in the interview. However, Boris joining his coaching staff could be on the cards or he could become a consultant of the Danish player.

Thus, Holger Rune, still early in his career parted his ways with Patrick Mouratoglou after the US Open and is now on the verge of joining hands with Boris Becker. The former German international, who once gained success as a professional tennis player would love to help Rune get higher up the rankings while laying his hands on numerous titles and grand slams.
