Tsitsipas continued, “I am always willing to help new players, especially from our country. I had the opportunity to mentor Stefanos (Sakellaridis) here in Sydney for a few days. I have been in situations that not many Greek tennis players have been in before and I want to continue this legacy, to promote the sport in my own way.”
Acknowledging his success, he is not willing to turn his back on his nation’s future. He added, “I want to be there for the new generations when they need to climb the ladder and keep dreaming to reach where Maria and I have reached. There should be support, because it doesn’t happen that way.” Speaking of Sakkari, Tsitsipas feels that she could be a great addition to this plan.
Tsitsipas said, “Of course, in this project Maria is also welcome, who did great things on the tour before me and I followed her. Together we are stronger and can achieve even more. For me it is a passion and it has nothing to do with money.” Back in 2021, Tsitsipas had talked about his ambition to be an idol to the young tennis players from Greece, as he wants to see more Greek players enter the top 100.
