The tennis schedule has become a point of contention for players across the ATP and WTA circuits, with many expressing concerns about its overwhelming nature and the chaos it brings. Amidst this turmoil, Andy Murray has weighed in, exposing the widespread hypocrisy among tennis players about their take on the schedule.

For tennis players, it is a good thing to have tournaments just one after the other, giving them a full plate of opportunities to showcase their talent, Saudi Arabia’s getting into tennis, but recently Murray stunned everyone by giving a reality check of the players perspective when it comes to handling the tennis schedule.

The three-time Grand Slam champion, in an interview with the National News, opened up about participating in a lot of exhibiting events since Saudi Arabia’s involvement has grown in the tennis world. He stated, “I just think that sometimes the players are a little bit hypocritical [over] the tennis schedule, and it’s like the tennis schedule is too long, but then players are flying all over the world in the off-season to play exhibitions, and that’s their choice. But it just seems hypocritical because they don’t have to play the exhibitions.”

Further, he also highlighted how players are not bound to play all the tournaments or every other tournament that is part of the ATP tour. Along with that, he also emphasized an example of how the players can decide whether to participate in the Dubai Tennis Championships or whether they have to play at Indian Wells in the coming month.

Along with that, you also highlighted that he is not against exhibition events, but players can be a bit more selective with how they talk about the tour and schedule the tournament they want to participate in. However, just a few days ago, even Andy Roddick shared his take on Saudi Arabia’s growing influence that is shadowing the actual tennis schedule.

Andy Roddick believes that the ATP tour is in a massive scheduling chaos

In a recent podcast of Served with Andy Roddick, the American tennis star talked about how, at first, the players were behind in making money, but now they have shifted their focus to scheduling, bringing hurdles in their own way. He explained how things have turned a bit hypocritical, stating an example of how to get ready for the Australian Open, tennis players preferred to play the off-season tournaments, while sharing an example of what the Australian Open Winner Jannik Sinner‘s schedule looked like.

He stated, “So, let’s put this into a hypothetical right? either January I don’t know what the date, it is January third, whatever the first Monday is for 2025 I don’t know it’s Sunday, I will just call it one week event for now, that’s schedule and he cant miss his masters 1000 so we on the heels of Sinner’s win in Australia…”

Subsequently, he also emphasized how everybody is kind of pitching from all sides, making the scheduling for the off-season an absolute nightmare for top tennis players.
