Every success in the sporting world comes with great perks for players, and this is no exception for tennis. However, there is always more to the story. Recently, the tennis fraternity openly spoke about some spine-chilling realities of their lives, where they addressed the multiple fitness issues they faced in recent tournaments. A few days back, Carlos Alcaraz blamed the authorities of the ATP tournament for changing the balls rapidly, which impacted their performance. Now Canada’s Vasek Pospisil expressed his anger at the incompatibility of the tournament organizers.

In the past few years, tennis players suffered many injuries. Not many of them spoke about it directly until this year, when Alcaraz dropped an unfamiliar gesture after losing against Djokovic at the ATP 2023 semi-finals. In fact, Serbian tennis legend, Djokovic himself raised his voice in favor of the players. However, Pospisil’s comment surely fueled the fire of frustration among the tennis fraternity.

Vasek Pospisil addresses his frustration over the recent functions of the tournament organizers in tennis

While veteran players like Jimmy Connors are not trying to accept the ball’s fault for a player’s injury or defeat, tennis’ current stars are saying otherwise. Recently Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil expressed his frustration after he lost the David Cup to Finland, saying how tennis is “falling behind other sports.” Pospisil directly lashed out at the administration for an incompatible organization with balls, scheduling, and more.

Pospisil believes that for such organizers’ fault, tennis’ global growth has slowed down. In a recent press conference in Malaga, Pospisil said- “I could just tell you a little bit about what happened with my elbow the last two years. I had a tear in my UCL, second-degree tear. Almost fully tore it. We were playing challenger events in France. Every player was complaining about the ball. It was like we were playing with a rock. I have never experienced anything like it in my life.”

Pospisil is not the only one complaining about the tennis balls. The list includes players like Carlos Alcaraz and even Novak Djokovic, who stated how these balls are dropping players’ performance with injuries.

Novak Djokovic complained to the ATP and sponsors regarding the gruesome challenges of tennis

Despite a swift victory at the Nitto ATP 2023 tournament, Djokovic supported the players’ complaints with the rapid ball changing in the tournaments. Complaining about it to the authorities of ATP, Djokovic said, “There is certainly a connection between frequent injuries of the wrist, elbow, shoulder joint with balls and their changes. I am absolutely in favor of choosing one ball with which we will play all ATP tournaments.”

Not just balls, Novak Djokovic spoke about the changing sponsors for each tournament, which also impacts players’ performance during the tournaments. Now Djokovic’s support truly matters for the tennis fraternity given his incredible success this season.

In this context, Pospisil’s complaint helps fans understand how tennis players go through insane difficulties to bag a victory at the prestigious tournament. However, Djokovic’s astonishing win also questions whether the ball can truly impact a legend’s performance. What do you think?
