John McEnroe was a player who was always troublesome. The foulmouthed tennis legend even earned himself the nickname of ‘Superbrat’ for his regular on-court outbursts. McEnroe seldom played a match that didn’t see a classic tantrum. Being such a player meant he was always seen in a controversial light. Nick Kyrgios is a player who is seen similarly in the current era. His on-court antics never fail to make the headlines.

Many news channels attract viewers by putting their focus on Kyrgios. One famous news host even went out of his way to chastise Kyrgios for his uncouth behavior and lack of awareness during the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.

Was McEnroe more sincere in his outbursts than Kyrgios?

Along with that, Cash also drew a comparison between McEnroe and Kyrgios. As per the former ATP number 4, McEnroe always seemed to push the limits of what was acceptable behavior. He also said that Superbrat always got away with being rude. To draw a comparison, he said that his successor, Kyrgios, tends to play the victim. About Kyrgios, Cash stated that it was just in his head, and no one was actually against Kyrgios.

I think John certainly pushed the envelope more than probably he should have, more than should have been allowed. I have no doubt about it. He got away with a lot. And Nick as well, he plays the victim very well like ‘everybody is after me and nobody likes me.’ It’s not true at all. It’s just all in his head,” he said.
