The Swede’s cool disposition was an ideal counterpart to the high-pressure climate of the grass-court occasion. Consequently, Connors compared Borg’s partiality to Wimbledon to that of Roger Federer. Federer shares a comparable cool-headed approach on grass. Like Borg, Federer was the dominant force at Wimbledon, having won a record-breaking eight Wimbledon titles.
In his podcast, Connors shared, “Right. If you don’t have everything right down to the, you know, to the nitty gritty then, you know, for me, it was always a tough couple of weeks.”
Connors also explained, “For Borg, probably his best two weeks, you know, because none of that affected him, right? Different attitudes, you know, fit different places to play, and his attitude fit Wimbledon. It’s like Federer.”
