In recent years, it has become increasingly common to see notable tennis stars express their love for video games. Many players love to play fan-popular titles such as FIFA and Call of Duty (COD). Several stars have even become avid gamers themselves, often sharing their passion for gaming on social media platforms. In a recent conversation, Daniil Medvedev dissed the gaming aptitude of several of his tennis peers, including Nick Kyrgios and Alexander Zverev.
Zverev has competed in FIFA tournaments, while Stan Wawrinka has been known to play games like Mortal Kombat and Tekken. Many players have shown that they are not only talented on the tennis court but also in the virtual world of gaming. However, Medvedev’s recent comments can be taken as a sign of peace for his rival, Zverev.

Daniil Medvedev shares his views about the gaming skills of his fellow players
In his post-match conference, Medvedev commented on the proficiency of his fellow players in the ubiquitous shooter game, Call of Duty. He also briefly touched upon his thoughts regarding Zverev’s abilities in the widely loved soccer game, FIFA. Zverev has been known to spend hours playing COD, both online and in person with their friends. Many tennis players are huge football fans, and FIFA provides a way for them to indulge their passion for the beautiful game.
When questioned about Zverev’s skills in the latter, Medvedev’s response was unapologetically straightforward. He shared,” I don’t think he’s good at FIFA, but he’s very good at shooting games, probably one of the best tennis players. I think Call of Duty is his game.”

Medvedev also spoke about the Aussie Nick Kyrgios: “I think Nick is very good, Kyrgios. I think they should play together because I heard that Alex is one of the best. After all, he played all his childhood (smiling). But still, I don’t think he’s top 100 in Call of Duty in the world. Better in tennis.”

The Russian further added, “He’s going to go up, even after this tournament, he’s going to probably be maybe 75 or something, and he has the potential to be even higher, especially if he plays like this.”
The Russian Medvedev shares a lofty rivalry with his friend Zverev
Following their heated third-round match at the Monte Carlo Masters, Zverev accused Medvedev of being “one of the most unfair players”. This exchange prompted a blunt response from the Russian tennis star. Medvedev refuted Zverev’s claim that they were close friends and criticized his opponent’s doubts over his toilet breaks. The exchange had effectively put an end to any cordial relationship between the two players.
