Looking at the two-decade-long career of Rafael Nadal, one can easily make out the aura he possesses. Over the years, the Spanish sensation has reached the highest heights of the sport. With a number of records, accolades, and titles to his name, the 35-year-old is one of the greatest players of all time.
Keeping up his aura, Nadal shocked the entire world earlier this year. Making a comeback on the tour after four months, Nadal first won the Melbourne Open. However, the biggest victory was yet to come. Going strong ahead, he went on to win his 21nst Grand Slam at the 2022 Australian Open. He further went on to win in Acapulco and reach the finals in Indian Wells.

The result of this? Rafael Nadal was named in the Times 100 Most Influential People of 2022. What’s bigger? The Spaniard shares the list with people like American president Joe Biden, and renowned American comedian Pete Davidson amongst others.
Rafael Nadal enters the TIMES Top 100 Most Influential People list
Every year, renowned news magazine, TIMES, releases the Top 100 Most Influential People’s list. First published in 1999, the list encompasses entities from different walks of life, who have influenced the world in some way or the other in that particular year. Released on 23rd May this year, the list is divided into 6 sections. Those are: Artists, Innovators, Titans, Leaders, Icons Pioneers.
While all the categories have some of the biggest names in the world, Rafael Nadal features in the ‘Icons’ section of the list. As per the magazine, the 21-time Grand Slam champion was introduced in the list by NFL quarterback, Tom Brady. Going by the note penned down by Brady, he introduced Nadal to the 2022 list for his inspiring attitude while on the court. He also called Nadal one of the greatest athletes in the entire sporting world.

This isn’t the first time that Nadal is on the list. Prior to this, he was previously featured in the TIMES Top 100 Most Influential People’s list of 2009. Like Tom Brady this year, the 13-time Roland Garros champion was introduced to the 2009 list by Serena Williams.

Apart from Nadal, several other well-known names also make up the list. While American president Joe Biden features in the ‘Leaders’ section of the list, comedian Pete Davidson marks his name in the ‘Artists’ section. Apart from these two, a few of the other names on the list are Tim Cook, Oprah Winfrey, Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Adele.
