It was quite a disheartening moment for fans when Rafael Nadal withdrew from the Cincinnati Masters 2021. Before that, he even skipped the National Bank Open 2021 without playing a single match as he was not 100% fit.

Rafael Nadal injured his foot at the Citi Open 2021. It forced him to withdraw from the National Bank Open 2021. The Spaniard decided not to take a risk so that he can be fit before the US Open 2021.

There is some more unfortunate news coming for the fans. Rafa recently announced that he will be playing a golf tournament just a week before the US Open 2021. His name is there in the final list of the the 2021 Balearic Golf Championships for Mid-Amateurs that includes 81 entrants. Interestingly, he will begin as the top-seeded player there. However, this announcement also means that Rafa may not be fit and can miss the US Open 2021.

Rafael Nadal at the US Open
Rafa has won four US Open titles in his career so far. Surprisingly, he lifted all of them in the last decade and has some really good numbers while playing on the hard-courts of the USA.

The reason for his recent success at the US Open is the topspin he gets on the hard-courts. He enjoys the bounce on the surface which helps him to trick his opponents- a thing that the hard-courts of Australia don’t offer.
Undoubtedly, Nadal is one of the players who can stop Novak Djokovic from achieving the Calendar Slam at the US Open 2021. However, in order to do so, he has to be completely fit and recover from his left foot injury. Even though he hasn’t withdrawn from the upcoming Grand Slam yet, there is large skepticism whether the Spaniard will play in New York or not.
Fans have huge expectations from Rafael Nadal and want him to be fully fit and fine. It’ll be intriguing to watch if he manages to participate at the US Open this year.
