For 16 years, Izuel served as CEO of Telefonica before passing the baton to Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete. In their latest tweet, Telefonica stated, “With hearts full of sadness, we express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the beloved former president of Telefónica, César Alierta. We will always remember with enormous gratitude and affection his immense work at Telefónica #InmemoriamCesarAlierta”

While retweeting the social media post, Rafael Nadal penned a heartfelt message as he expressed his deepest condolences to César Alierta Izuel’s family and friends. He said, “A hug to César’s family and all of @Telefonica’s family. Saddened by the news of his death. D.E.P”
