The injury troubles seem to be never ending for Rafael Nadal this year. After playing in just one tournament at the start of the year in Brisbane, the Spaniard got injured again, having a muscle tear. As a result, he was kept on the sidelines and missed many important tournaments like the Australian Open. Recently, he made a comeback at the Barcelona Open and also played in the Madrid Masters. However, another concerning visual has cropped about Nadal.

After his pre-quarterfinal defeat in Madrid, Nadal arrived in Rome to participate in the Italian Open. However, Nadal was spotted wearing a compression sock and this video went viral on social media. His fans took no time in suspecting another injury and one of them said, “Compression sleeve on right foot? It’s over,” guessing that he may already have played the last match of his career.

One of Nadal’s fans couldn’t stop crying after seeing the Spaniard in this state and commented, “Oluu’s leg,” along with crying emojis.

Lastly, one fan questioned what was wrong with Nadal’s leg, where he was wearing that sock.

Despite Nadal’s injury concerns, the tennis world is backing him to have one last laugh before he calls time on his career. Even Roger Federer’s former coach, Ivan Ljubicic, joined many in giving an encouraging message to Nadal.

Recently, Nadal revealed that he’ll play at the French Open only if he feels he’s ready to play. Further, he’ll analyze his physical fitness before he boards the plane to Paris. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his French Open participation, Ljubicic was confident of seeing Nadal thrive at the French Open.

He said, “We’re seeing him for 20 years, we know his champion mentality. Like Federer at Wimbledon, he will only play in Paris if he thinks he can get to the bottom, not to make a presence. If he says so it means that he is not in condition. He knows very well what he needs, let’s see if in the weeks here missing he will find the right feelings.”
