However, the Spaniard has never failed to make a comeback and surprise the tennis world with his performance. Twenty years down the line, Nadal still seems to be going strong in the game.
Expressing his views on the longevity of his career, Nadal said, “We believed that my career was not going to be that long and it is true that I have had physical problems. It is incredible that in 2022, I continue to compete as I am doing. I am enjoying myself to the fullest and let’s see how long it lasts”. [h/t marca.com]

After being out of the tour for four months, Nadal made a comeback in 2022. He started his season campaign with a title win at the ATP 250 Melbourne Open. It was followed by a Grand Slam win at the 2022 Australian Open. Continuing his impressive form, Nadal has cruised through the initial rounds of the ATP 500 Acapulco and is in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The 3-time Acapulco champion feels that his 2022 run till now has been much more than what he had dreamt of. “The way I’ve started the season is a dream, it’s better than I would have dreamed of. Two months ago, if they told me these results, I almost signed it for you. So far, I’ve played many good moments. But you have to go slowly and with feet on the ground. Respect for the sport, the rivals…,” he said.
