This match is a rematch of the 2022 semifinal, in which the German player hurt his ankle in an exciting encounter and missed out on the opportunity to defeat Rafael Nadal, the winner. The 36-year-old Spaniard has sustained more injuries since then. Even though he hasn’t played consistently, the 14-time champion is still a threat. Nadal leads their head-to-head 7-3.

Over the years, Nadal has often beaten the odds. But Zverev, who just won the Italian Open, will be in blistering form when he gets to Paris. On the other hand, there’s more to this match’s buzz than just revenge. Given his past statements suggesting that 2024 might be his final year on tour, many believe this could be his farewell appearance at the French Open.

This speculation has fueled excitement among players, fans, and the media alike. He stated, “It’s a big, big chance that it’s going to be my last Roland Garros. But if I have to tell you it’s 100% my last Roland Garros? Sorry, but I will not. Because I cannot predict what’s going on.” Not only that, a lot of tennis fans also came forward to share their perplexed reactions to the ticket prices.

Tennis fans react to Rafael Nadal’s first-round clash’s surprising ticket prices

As soon as one of the active tennis fan pages shared the price range for the 22-time Grand Slam Champions first round clash at the French Open, a lot of tennis fans came forward to share their reaction to the expensive ticket. While at the cheapest the prices were around 1500 to 3000 Euro, a fan talked about how one company was selling him tickets for “6500 Euros for cat 1,” which is apparently just the double cheapest price listed. Another one wrote, “unreal…” looking at the rising prices.

On the other hand, looking into such expenses, a Twitter user came forward and tagged the whole situation as “shambles.” Along with that, he also emphasized the fact that it’s a privileged sport; “no wonder the crowds are always 90%+ full of middle/upper-class western people.”

Another fan talked about how he expected more from the ticket prices and was quite “surprised” that it’s not more than that looking and how it’s one of the best times to watch the former world number one play. Subsequently, even though a fan was expecting more expensive tickets for the clash, another one wrote just the opposite, sharing a different perspective regarding how paying money just to watch the Spaniard lose, can be useless, “For an hour and a half to watch Nadal lose in four sets…That’s quite a lot.”
