Certain rivalries throughout tennis history have gone down in the sport’s annals. So just like every other rivalry, the competition between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal has been one of the most heated in men’s tennis history. They’ve faced off against one another several times over their respective careers, and each time was a highlight.?

When these two players faced each other in Miami in 2004, Nadal won in straight sets. Since then, they’ve competed against one another 40 times, with Nadal coming out on top 24 times. And now Real Madrid has plans in place to organize a massive event that will feature Federer and his archrival Rafael Nadal.

Real Madrid is in talks to host a match between Nadal and Federer

The news of Roger Federer’s retirement following the forthcoming Laver Cup has shocked the sporting world, with several famous players thanking the Swiss superstar for a legendary career that includes 20 Grand Slam titles.

According to ESPN, Real Madrid is planning a major celebration in honor of Federer’s retirement, putting him against the arch-adversary Rafael Nadal in front of around 80,000 fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

There is currently no confirmed date for the exhibition, but details are likely to be announced following the Laver Cup at London’s O2 Arena.

This year, the Laver Cup will also feature the legendary Spanish player along with Federer. The two will compete for Team Europe versus Team World. And It will be a perfect team-up for Team Europe, with Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray joining the two as well.

Over the course of the three-day tournament, six top tennis players from Europe compete against six international stars, including rising American star Frances Tiafoe. On a sadder note, Nick Kyrgios recently announced that he would miss this year’s Laver Cup to spend more time with his family. However, it is fortunate that we will get to see Novak Djokovic. He will be representing Team Europe in the Laver Cup, which begins on September 23.
