For the first time, Spain’s top two tennis players have ended the domination of Americans in the ATP rankings. Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, have finished the year first and second in the ATP rankings. Three of the four Grand Slam titles were won by the powerful Spanish duo. They were able to break traditions held by legendary tennis players like Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.
Rafael Nadal has won the Australian and French Opens, while Alcaraz, a teenager, won the US Open. Nadal is pursued by his arch-rival, Novak Djokovic, who is just one title behind his friend. Nadal will enter 2023 looking to add more wins to his record 22 Grand Slam victories.
