Rafael Nadal had a fantastic beginning to the 2022 ATP season. He won the Melbourne Summer Set and then went on to win his 21st Grand Slam at the Australian Open. The Spaniard also clinched the title at Acapulco, making it his 91st ATP career title. While reaching the Indian Wells finals, he suffered a stress fracture to his rib. This injury also came at a crucial time as he was looking to begin his clay season.
In what can be considered a wonderful news to his fans, the King of Clay is planning to make a comeback soon.

Rafael Nadal announces comeback at Madrid Open 2022
As questions surrounding his full-fledged recovery are still doing the rounds, the 21-time major champion took to Twitter to announce that he will be competing at the Mutua Madrid Open.
“Despite arriving just before preparation and being difficult, I really want to play and play at home since the opportunities are few. To do it in the best possible way. See you in Madrid,” Nadal wrote.

Rafael Nadal recently announced his comeback to the clay season, ahead of a record 14th French Open bid. He said that he will play at the Madrid Open. While there had been questions about health, he also hinted at the fact that he was planning for a return to Madrid. This was, of course, if his rehab schedule went according to plan.
The decision might have been taken so that the Spaniard will be able to have a feel of the clay before heading into Roland Garros.
