Italy’s Jannik Sinner defeated Alex de Minaur of Australia by 6-3 and 6-0 to earn Italy’s first Davis Cup in forty-seven years. However, Sinner received great help from Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi who brought Italy its first point in the finals. While Jannik Sinner’s previous face-off against Djokovic went pretty disappointing for the Italian tennis star, he finally proved his worth by winning the 2023 Davis Cup finals.
In fact, the best thing is Sinner didn’t forget his colleague Arnaldi’s contribution. Sinner commented- “Huge thanks to Matteo. He’s had a very tough year with a lot of injuries. It means a lot to us that he came here for all of us. He gave us a lot of positive energy. Thanks Matteo. All the time, we kept everything together. Yesterday we were 1 point away from being out. Today we get to celebrate the win. We are very, very happy.”
