Roger Federer has taken his style game from the court to the streets with the RF line. Since his retirement, he has been taking on different roles, the most recent being a sunglasses designer. Having partnered with iconic American sunglasses brand Oliver Peoples over a year ago, Federer’s RF is ready to launch its first set.

Recently, the 20-time Grand Slam champion announced the launch date for his coolest piece of merchandise yet, as he tests the waters with the $63 million company.

While the launch was supposed to take place in the spring of 2024, the 42-year-old Swiss icon stood true to his own words and took to his Instagram account to share the actual launch date. He shared a story in which he mentioned that the sunglasses would be available on March 13, 2024.

Not only that, he also shared a link to the website, with which his fans and followers can take their first piece home on the launch day itself. Last year, after the collaboration, the Swiss tennis legend talked about the inspiration behind the idea.

Roger Federer wanted to create a sporty  sunglasses line, reveals his inspiration  

In an interview with GQ, Federer mentioned how he was inspired by his style and described it as sporty, athleisure, and an instant classic. Along with that, he also described it as something that looked like Tom Cruise’s sunglasses from Mission Impossible II.

Further, he said, “I am always on the go with my four children. These frames have to be solid around the head, and not fall off with, you know, the first flick of the neck.” Aside from that, the sunglasses materialized through the licensing arrangement between the Swiss tennis legend and Essilor Luxottica, Oliver Peoples’ parent business, that will allow for the creative and international distribution of eyewear under the RF label.
