Roger Federer is an extraordinarily wealthy man and his Uniqlo Ambassadorship has only added to the benefit. Having retired from the sport in 2022 following the Laver Cup, the Swiss Maestro regularly campaigns for the Japanese clothing label’s promotion. In his recent appearance on the brand’s social media, he shared apparel recommendations for his father.
The 20-time major winner is a marketing powerhouse on his own. Despite not featuring in any tour-level event in the past few years, Federer, according to Forbes last year, minted a whopping $90.7M in pre-tax gross earnings. Seeing as his off-court persona remains in huge demand still, his tie-up with Japanese clothing retail chain Uniqlo has mutually benefitted both parties across all boards.
Subsequently, he appeared on Uniqlo and Uniqlo Ambassadors’ Instagram handle posing in several relaxed poses to open up about his apparel choices. During the recorded video, Federer shared a few clothing recommendations his father Robert Federer, 78, wouldn’t mind wearing. “I would recommend it to my Dad, you know, he’s 80 years old – he could wear a jacket like this, no problem, the t-shirt I think he could do as well – the combo, I’m not sure, but he’s a cool guy.”

The Swiss legend also reserved a few outfit ideas for his identical twin sons, Leo and Lenny. “I would recommend it to my boys, you know, because they do play golf, tennis and they go to school, and they want to have something that is also very comfortable.” Uniqlo isn’t the sole lucrative sponsor for Federer.
Brands like Rolex, ‘On Running’ (where he is a 3% $180M stakeholder), and Mercedes are some of the biggest names in his impressive sponsor catalogue.
For those unaware, Federer made a momentous decision to shift to Uniqlo in 2018, after 24 years of his partnership with sporting giant Nike. After signing his 10-year $300M contract with the Japanese company seven years ago, Nike’s former tennis director hailed the Swiss legend for his unparalleled contributions to the sporting world.

Nike tennis former director Mike Nakajima praised huge marketable sporting icon Roger Federer
Roger Federer stands out from the crowd and for reasons not unknown. He was a true gentleman in the sport and his awe-worthy demeanor earned him praise not just from his counterparts and fans, but also from the sporting company he was associated with for more than two decades. Following Nike’s marketing immense promotion with Federer’s custom ‘RF’ signature tennis-wear collection, their former tennis director found it best to acknowledge the Swiss Maestro for his contributions.
Tennis former director Mike Nakajima summed up the former World No. 1’s tennis greatness in his book ‘The Roger Federer Effect’. “He’s such a savvy guy; if you’re a company, who wouldn’t want somebody like Roger working with you? I think he’ll branch out into other things. And his name will live on forever as one of the best athletes of all time.”

Post-retirement, Federer has made the most of his savvy lifestyle by touring the world and marking attendances at several top-tier ATP events. Just last year, the Swiss legend returned to the Rolex Shanghai Masters for a mixed doubles exhibition event and later, spectated Jannik Sinner‘s summit clash against Novak Djokovic, alongside Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
For now, fans can only hope that the 43-year-old returns to the tour again for friendly on-court showdowns and maybe even, provide his critical insight into the sport’s top talents and shortcomings.
