Although already quite popular around the world, Roger Federer drew many people to the sport with his playing style. Although he had captivated millions of tennis fans for two decades, his run came to an end in 2022. The tennis fan base was devastated, and emotions were high as they watched the Swiss Maestro play his last point. However, one fan of the Mighty Federer stopped watching tennis altogether.

Roger Federer fan does not watch tennis anymore 

Vic Seixas is one person who had several fans during his active time on the court. After he retired, Seixas still followed the sport diligently. But he did not find a favorite till the Swiss Maestro won the Wimbledon.

Since then, Seixas became more intrigued and became an even bigger fan of the sport. The former American player loved Federer. He reasoned that Federer did not feel shy about going to the net, like many players, as per Seixas. But now that Federer has retired, the 1953 Wimbledon champion is not inclined to follow the sport.

He told the Telegraph UK, “I have Tennis Channel here, but I don’t follow it so much now that Roger Federer has retired. He was a great player, and I enjoyed watching him. I don’t enjoy watching it too much any more. Mostly they play from the baseline, and I liked to go to the net. Roger could do both. He could do anything.”

Big in the 1950s, Seixas established himself as a fearful player in the singles and doubles tournaments. The former American player made quite the name for himself, winning 15 titles, which included one Wimbledon singles. Now, Seixas is the oldest surviving grand slam champion at the age of 99 years.

Although he only managed to snag one gentleman’s singles title, Seixas shined in the mixed doubles category. With a career that spanned over two decades, an astounding feat for a player in the mid-1900s, the American has several titles. Stellar performances with several partners, Seixas holds the record for most mixed doubles Wimbledon titles, along with Leander Paes and Owen Davidson.
