It has been 18 months since we last saw Roger Federer in action. The Swiss maestro called an end to his career after the 2022 Laver Cup. It was an emotional moment for tennis fans all across the globe and they have missed him in action ever since. Following his retirement, there have been several rounds of rumors about Federer’s comeback to tennis in some form. Recently, the 20-time Grand Slam champion dropped a cryptic message on social media that led to major speculations from fans.
Federer dropped a trio of emojis on his official Twitter handle. It included a soon emoji, a Christmas tree, and an eyes emoji. As soon as Federer dropped this message, it led to thousands of reactions from fans. While some hinted that he might be coming back to tennis, some mentioned the Christmas festival. One fan commented, “Christmas isnt soon Rog.”

Meanwhile, another fan couldn’t stand the suspense from Roger Federer and mentioned, “not now please roger.”

The reaction aptly captured the emotional state of Federer fans. They miss the Swiss Maestro so much that they do not even want to hope for something positive, because if their hopes shatter, it will cause a lot of pain.

This is not the first time Federer has dropped something that hinted at his potential return to the sport. Earlier this year, he opened up about his long association with the sport and possible return route.

Roger Federer dived deep into his tennis passion
During an interview, the Swiss maestro revealed his golden career days and the passion he had for the sport. Further, he also went on to talk about whether he considered returning to the sport in some form.
Federer mentioned, “I wanted to see how I felt to be as a quidam at a tennis competition. I felt very good. I like this sport and I don’t want to go away from it.” Despite his retirement from the sport, Federer has often been seen attending tennis tournaments, albeit as a spectator.

For example, he attended the Wimbledon Championships and the Laver Cup among other tournaments in 2023. He enjoys watching the sport from the stands and plans to attend a few tournaments this year as well.
