Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer is out of action for almost a year now. He was last seen playing in the Wimbledon championship in 2021. After losing out in the quarterfinals, the 20 times Grand Slam champion underwent his third knee surgery. He has not returned to the tour ever since.

The 40-year-old is one of the most loved athletes across the globe. Apart from his achievements in tennis, he is also known for being a thorough gentleman. Speaking of which, the Swiss legend recently revealed a funny story of his early years, when he was schooled by his father for not behaving properly in the court.

Roger Federer recalls a funny incident involving his dad

It is a fact that Federer is one of the most well-behaved personalities in the tennis world. The Swiss legend definitely has learned a thing or two from his father, who was strict about his conduct in the court. Recently in an interview, Federer recalled a funny incident.

When his father took him out of the car while returning from a tournament. And gave him a little beating. The 40 years old added that it was the time of winter and there was snow outside. Notably, his father did so because Federer did not behave well on the court.

Although a young Federer might have made such a mistake, his father made it sure that he never repeated the same ever in his professional career.

When will Federer return to court?

Federer has been away from the court for a long time now. While he has shared pictures from his training season on Instagram, the 40 years old will return to the ATP Tour with a Swiss indoor event in Basel. As per the announcement posted on the tour website, the 20 times Grand Slam champion has officially entered the tournament. According to the website, his first match in the tournament will be on October 25.

However, this confirms that the Swiss legend will miss out on this year’s Wimbledon. As well as the US Open later in August. Notably, the legendary trio of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer are in a constant race against each other for ending up with the number of Grand Slam.
