Tennis luminary Roger Federer has never been a stranger to making headlines, both for his masterful play and his off-court dealings. Earlier, the tennis world buzzed not about his impressive forehand, but a controversy surrounding the potential renaming of his hometown stadium.

For years, fervent fans and Basel councilor Martina Bernasconi have championed renaming the St Jakobshalle arena to ‘Roger Federer Arena’.
