World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was not present at the Australian Open 2022. Despite being the defending champion at the Happy Slam, the Australian government deported the Serbian.

This was because Djokovic refused to comply with the country’s vaccination mandates. Even though he managed to secure a medical exemption, Djokovic was not able to make the exemption hold.

Sadly, amidst the controversy, further speculations began coming out that the 20-time Grand Slam champion had faked his medical reports. However, his legal team continues to vehemently deny the rumors.

Novak Djokovic did not forge his medical documents

Amidst the entire controversy that surrounded Novak Djokovic from his arrival to deportation, there were other doubts cast on him as well. The entire basis for Novak’s medical exemption was that he had contracted the virus in December.

Thus, the champion tried to secure an exemption from the mandatory double-vaccination policy of the Australian Open by citing natural immunity. However, many began doubting whether or not he had faked his medical history simply for the sake of the exemption.

Nevertheless, even after the Australian Open has ended, Djokovic’s Serbian team of lawyers continues to vehemently deny such rumors of forgery. In fact, this was in response to a request the Serbian prosecutors received, against two individuals who forged the documents, which were later on used by Novak Djokovic.

However, the prosecution determined that the Serbian World No. 1 had “tested several times,” and his resultant certificates were indeed valid.

Even though he was not able to play in the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic had expected to try for a 21st Grand Slam at the French Open 2022. In fact, the French Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu had even stated that Djokovic would be welcome in France.

At the time, the country did not prohibit unvaccinated individuals from entering its borders. Sadly, France then passed new laws that made it so that only double-vaccinated individuals could be in public places.

The vaccination status would be confirmed upon presentation of a certificate. Thus, it looked like Novak Djokovic’s hopes of winning his 21st Slam would once again have to wait some more.

However, it now appears that he just might be able to participate in the French Open, as the certificate has an exemption for anyone having contracted the virus within a six-month window.

Naturally, with Djokovic’s medical history being confirmed by Serbian legal professionals, he would be able to secure this exemption and play at the French Open 2022.
