Holger Rune has become the talk of the town after defeating tennis legend Novak Djokovic. This is a major achievement on his part and also for his temporary coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who is also the former coach of Serena Williams. The famous coach expressed his views on the Danish player and his gameplay.

Rune defeated top-tier players like Carlos Alcaraz, and Andrey Rublev to reach the finals of the Paris Masters. And there he met none other than the Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic. Rune took the victory in his hands by defeating Djokovic in three sets. His coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, talked about his performance and said, “He was not impressive in his level of play. He played very well.”

Moreover, he also saw that he was not unique and stated, “He didn’t have a specific shot. He didn’t play loose. He didn’t have what some observers were trying to look for.” Then what made him appealing in the eyes of the French coach? Mouratoglou said, “But he had already his state of mind, what defines him more I think. The tennis; he built it.”

Furthermore, Serena Williams‘ former coach praised his passion for the sport which made him improve his game. He said, “You build your tennis with your mindset. He believes in it 100%.”

Well, Rune has proved his worth by winning multiple tournaments in 2022. He clinched the titles at Sanremo Challenger, Bavarian International, Stockholm Open, and the Paris Masters. In the recently concluded ATP 1000 event, Rune defeated five players from the Top 10 ATP-ranked players. This shows that he has been practicing well and is proving his worth on the court. His coach Patrick Mouratoglou had also shared a reel where he was doing a fitness challenge with the young player.
