It is no secret that winners of the finals of tennis tournaments earn a handsome sum. But when the event is a grand slam, just entering the final stages also makes the player an affluent individual. This could not be more true for Ben Shelton. Despite a rocky year, Shelton reached the final stages of two grand slams, which has put him in the top 20 from on-court earnings.
At the top of that list, as tennis fans might be aware, is Novak Djokovic. He won three grand slams and one master’s tournament, which is bound to put him above everyone. But, the prize money has put him at the top of another elite list.

This year, Shelton was not able to win many big tournaments. But, the young American star managed to reach the final stages of two grand slams, which earned him a handsome sum. When the US Open began, Shelton was dedicated to his craft. He powered through each player to reach the semifinal. He was ousted by Novak Djokovic, which ended his stint but earned him quite a huge sum.
The American player went home with a whopping $775,000, a big boost for his finances. Additionally, he earned $42,500 from his run in the mixed doubles.
His earning has put him in the top 20 earnings list of this year. He is currently the 17th highest-earning player with a sum of $1.92 million.
Prior to the American slam, he fought his way to the quarterfinal of the Australian Open. He found himself eliminated by his compatriot, Tommy Paul. His exploits in that stint earned him a sum of $372,9564. After that, Shelton could not find consistency in his performances and was eliminated in tournaments earlier.
At the top of the list, unsurprisingly, is Novak Djokovic. But his earnings are not the highest only in this year.

Highest earnings from tournaments
24 grand slams and 39 Masters tournaments have fetched Djokovic prize money, which many can’t even dream of. During his exploits since he turned pro, he has earned a mind-blowing $175 million, towering over any other star in the game. Rafael Nadal, with 22 grand slams, has won $134 million, more than $40 million less than the Djoker.
Of the $175 million, Djokovic has earned $10.5 million just this season. While all other players are earning well in their own right, they have been overshadowed by Djokovic once again.
