After his elimination in the semi-final round of the China Open, Alcaraz put all his focus into winning the Shanghai Masters. Now that the China Tournament is done, things are getting interesting. Both Medvedev and Sinner have entered the Shanghai Masters after their finals in Beijing. When Carlos was reminded of the fact that his two major competitors were also doing incredibly well, this is what he had to say:

“That’s a tough one. Both of them. I saw that Medvedev won 42 or 42 matches on hard court this year. It’s amazing. Obviously Jannik beat me in Beijing, playing such a high level. I really want to face them, both of them. Before that I have to win my matches, and they as well. But both are players that probably, you know, it’s scary to face them, you know, on court, but I like that kind of challenge. I’m really wanting that. I want to play my best level to find the final and probably face them.”

Although Alcaraz doesn’t seem to lose faith in himself, he understands that his journey will not be smooth. Apart from Sinner and Medvedev, Carlos also has to beat the Champion himself.
