History was created this year at the US Open as Novak Djokovic managed to make his way into the finals and lift a record 24th grand slam title of his career. En route to glory, he left behind everyone in tennis and joined the likes of Margaret Court in achieving this feat. But, as things stand, despite major Grand Slam success, there is a record where the Serbian legend has been left behind.

In a recent revelation, the 36-year-old, despite outwitting his rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal stands second on the list behind former legend Bjorn Borg. The list contained the effectiveness of the players in a grand slam after playing a minimum of 150 matches.

In a surprising turn of events, Novak Djokovic found himself well behind tennis icon Bjorn Borg. A recent tweet showed the statistics of the effectiveness of the players when it came to the grand slams. This was calculated for the players who played a minimum of 150 matches in the grand slams.

While he clearly dominated his arch-rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, he stood behind the Swedish player. Djokovic had an impressive 88.3% win rate across 409 Grand Slam matches. On the other hand, Bjorn Borg had an 89.2% win rate which showcased his effectiveness on the grand stage.

Rafael Nadal was in the third spot with the slightest difference between the two. The Spanish legend had an 88% rate while the Swiss maestro had an 86% win rate across 429 matches in the grand slam. Thus, despite being a legend in the game, and breaking every record, Djokovic was left behind by Bjorn Borg.

However, despite the records and stats, Borg has always been upfront whenever it comes to talking about the Serbian great. In an interview earlier this year, he talked about how the Djoker could be on course to become the greatest of the game.

In an interview that dated back to March this year, the Swedish player hailed the Serbian and remarked him as the best. He suggested that Novak Djokovic is someone who wants to become the best in the world while suggesting that he could claim more grand slam success.

“Novak [Djokovic], I think he might win one or two more Grand Slam tournaments. Who knows? But he is doing it not for himself but for tennis and journalists. Unbelievable. He’s still pushing the limits. He wants to be the greatest,”

Thus, Novak Djokovic, who does not know any stopping at the moment is all set to add more glory to his name. Despite being beaten by Borg in a Grand slam record, the Serbian player gets complete acknowledgment of his greatness from the man himself.

One take at a time

In a world where player rivalries dominate social media conversations, I am someone who prefers to enjoy the skills showcased on the court rather than be involved in feuds over the greatness of players. Right from my early childhood, I have been engrossed by the legendary rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It turned me into a ?Fedal? fan and eventually, when I graduated from college, this fandom created an interest in covering their exploits on the court.
