

The Canadian rapper Drake is getting a lot of attention after the release of his latest album. However, what grabbed everyone’s attention was that it also had Serena Williams’ husband’s name in it. This is not the first time the Canadian star’s connection with the 23-time Grand Slam champion has been the main talking point. Tennis players have different connections with the music they enjoy. However, almost a decade ago, there was a time when the Australian Open doubles champion, Nick Kyrgios, was into the Canadian rapper’s music. During the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, a young Kyrgios lost his first set in a match and blamed that on Drake’s music.
Drake’s strangling threat for Nick Kyrgios
After losing the first round, the 19-year-old tennis player jokingly said that he might not listen to Drake’s songs ever again. He said, “I came out really flat, so hopefully I won’t listen to that again. It was actually Drake. Didn’t do the job for me.”

However, after listening to the strangling comment, the Canadian rapper was not happy about being dissed by a 19-year-old tennis player. In an interview back then he clearly make a suggestion to meet the guy who claimed to have lost after listening to Drake’s music.

However, he also kind of threatened the young Australian player and said, “I also want to meet that guy and look him in the eye and see exactly who he is as a man and size him up and then chop him right down. Nick whatever-his-name-is — ’cause he didn’t win, so that’s how he’s going to be remembered: ‘Nick whatever-his-name-is.’”
Kyrgios’ response to Drake’s ‘chop him away’ comment
After losing the first round at Wimbledon, he defeated Rafael Nadal to move further in the tournament. This was one of Kyrgios‘ biggest wins as a 19-year-old when he defeated a famous tennis player.

However, before the beef even got started Kyrgios took to his social media account and shared that it’s not a blame game and that he enjoyed Drake’s music and stated the clear reason again that he went a little flat but everything was good and ended up winning the next match.
