Argentine tennis player Juan Martin del Potro was one of the most formidable players on the Tour. When he was fit and did not have to deal with physical complications, he was a tough opponent to take on; on the court.

Sadly, del Potro retired last month after being on the sidelines for the last couple of seasons. He competed in the event in Argentina and prior to its beginning, he announced that it would be his last event on the Tour as his body was not at the level he expected to be at.

Juan Martin del Potro recollects tough times 

Recently, Juan spoke about an incident which was involving his father. In 2020, the Argentine’s father was suffering from an illness that had a severe consequence. Those were trying times, and del Potro did whatever it took to be beside his dad.

Remembering the episode, Juan stated, “When my dad was sick I spent nights at the hospital door. It was the time of COVID-19. I had to put on three pairs of gloves, goggles, both, things on my feet. Everything to see two meters or sometimes through the glass.”
