Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka was once a lethal force in men’s tennis. The manner in which he went about things during the 2014 season until the 2016 season was remarkable.

However, things have not gone in his favor lately. Wawrinka has been troubled by injuries on a consistent basis over the past few seasons. He had to undergo surgery on his left foot that has kept him away from the action for over a year.

Finally, something to cheer about for Stan Wawrinka 

With the latest developments, fans can be excited, as Stan is all set to return to competitive action next week in Marbella. The Andalucia Open is a Challenger event. And could be a perfect tournament for the Swiss ace to regain form and confidence, moving towards the clay season. 

Over the years, Stan has proven to be a versatile player. He has the ability to adapt to the various surfaces the sport is played on. When he won his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2014, the odds were against him, and he managed to knock out Djokovic in the semifinal and followed that by beating Rafa in the final.

Been a roadblock for Novak and Rafa

In the following year, he defeated Djokovic in the final of the French Open and stopped the Serb from winning Majors at all for events. In 2016, he beat the World No. 1 from Serbia to claim his first US Open title. 

So far, Wawrinka has had to beat some tough opponents while going on to win his Grand Slam titles. The sheer firmness with what he would unleash his groundstrokes, especially his backhand was second to none.
