While some are rooting for the Swiss tennis player given his previous triumphs on the tennis court, others might have a different say on that. Recently, one of the fans mocked Wawrinka on social media over his chances of proceeding to the semifinal round.

The official Twitter account of Tennis TV recently shared a post of Stan Wawrinka and Jannik Sinner ahead of their quarter-final match at Rotterdam. They asked the fans to pick a player who they think will win the star-studded clash and make it to the semi-finals.

It intrigued the entire tennis community, with many favoring the Swiss tennis star. However, some were cheeky about it as they mocked Wawrinka’s chances of overcoming Sinner. One of the fans criticized the 37-year-old by saying that he should “just default loss” and save his energy for the next tournament. The fan also said that he has “no chance” of winning against the in-form Italian tennis player.

Wawrinka, who is quite active on Twitter, also took note of those sharp remarks ahead of his match. He fired back at him with a sarcastic answer on the same thread. Wawrinka said, “I will get a lesson for free at least 😉,” as he suggested that he might be able to get something out of that match if not a win.

Wawrinka previously fired back at a tennis authority

The Swiss star has often been vocal about commenting on various matters in the tennis community. He previously raised his voice against the Australian Open authorities‘ decision to ban the audience from booing the Serbian tennis legend, Novak Djokovic.

The Swiss tennis player was disappointed as he believed the fans shouldn’t be restricted from expressing their opinion about a player, whether they boo or cheer from the stands.
