As the Greek tennis sensation approaches the Barcelona Open final, it’s not just his on-court skill that draws notice, but also his father’s animated presence. In a recent match, amidst Tsitsipas’ pursuit of a win, his father’s emotional outburst, provoked by the query “the problem is me?” left tennis fans perplexed by the turmoil.

Apostolos is someone who accompanies the 25-year-old tennis player as a coach and a guide in almost every tournament. While there have been moments when the Greek tennis player’s father has grabbed attention, this time too the fans have left no stones unturned to criticize his courtside outburst.

“Maybe a couple of hefy fines?”: Stefanos Tsitsipas’ father draws fans’ ire
Recently, when the Monte Carlo champion was playing the semi-final round against Dušan Lajović, there was a moment when Tsitsipas’ coach, who is also his father, threw a fit in the middle of the match. A Tsitsipas fan shared a video of the Greek player’s father arguing with the line umpire.

Looking into that video, a fan commented with a GIF of Paula Badosa, Tsitsipas’ girlfriend, giving a side eye to his father.

Although, there are a lot of fans who are quite not happy with the seventh-ranked tennis player’s father’s presence on the court. But Tsitsipas, as an individual player, clearly highlighted the importance of having his father present as a coach by his side during the tournaments.

Tsitsipas bold statement about keeping his father around
Last year, when the Greek tennis player talked about the equation with his father, he clearly mentioned how his father will always be a part of his coaching team.
Talking about his father, he stated, “He is here to stay I mean I have no intention of ever changing my dad or pushing him away, you know people are always going to try and I don’t know..try and create rumors or try to destroy what you have with someone that is really close to you in any way or form.” Subsequently, as someone who is clearly aware of the conversations surrounding his father, the Monte Carlo champion gave a clear statement regarding what he though about his father.
