Twitter account of Stefanos Tsitsipas tweets while he’s on court

In a rather surprising turn of events, Stefanos Tsitsipas’ official Twitter account posted, “This is the Mondayest Monday that ever Mondayed”. This tweet came while the Greek world No. 4 was struggling against Fritz during the first set of their match.

This led fans to speculate whether Tsitsipas’ account has been hacked. How he was tweeting while actually being on the court, in the middle of a match, seemed to be the question on everyone’s lips.

Taylor Fritz has won the first set 6-4, and it remains to be seen whether he can manage to maintain this momentum to move into his first quarterfinal at the Australian Open 2022. Tsitsipas also dropped a set in this third-round match against France’s Benoit-Paire, where the final scoreline stood at 6-3, 7-5, 6(2)-7, 6-4 in the World No. 4’s favour.

Taylor Fritz is in great form

The American is in pretty good shape this season. He set up his fourth-round clash with Tsitsipas after overcoming a tough five-setter against Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut. While he managed to bagel the No. 15 seed in the first set, he lost his momentum for the next two sets, which the Spaniard grabbed. Fritz, however, found his rhythm back in the last two sets, ensuring a 6-0, 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win.

This match enabled Fritz to move into the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time. In his post-match interview, he seemed to be quite emotional about it.

“After that match, I was almost close to like tearing up a bit,” Fritz said. “But it seems stupid because so many people have made the second week of Slams… It’s just eluded me for so long.”

What remains to be seen is if he can maintain his lead, and get through to the quarterfinals, or if Tsitsipas pulls his socks up, to set up a quarterfinal clash with Jannik Sinner, who won his fourth round match against Alex De Minaur.
