‘Struggled to Get Out of Bed’- Stefanos Tsitsipas Issues Concerning Statement as He Races Against Time to Recover From a ‘Painful’ Injury

While players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner walked out with better rankings and memorable wins as the 2023 season came to an end, Stefanos Tsitsipas, the tennis star who performed really well this season, had to walk out with an injury instead. The 25-year-old, who called off from the ATP Finals in Turin, is currently in a recovery phase.

After having a great season of making it to the semi-finals of prestigious tournaments like the Paris Masters and Vienna Open, ATP Finals brought a hiatus to the Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas‘ progress. While the star has not been spotted since then, he recently came forward to share an update on his recovery status.

The Nitto ATP Finals happened to be a memorable event for almost every participant as they walked out with different experiences. While Holger Rune had to come out with a lesson on working even harder, the Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas had to come out of the tournament with a back injury that required immediate attention. Although his space was filled by Hubert Hurkacz, the fans didn’t seem to be satisfied with just that.

Giving the world an update on his physical condition, Stefanos Tsitsipas recently came forward to talk about the pain he endured following a back injury incurred during his match with Holger Rune at the ATP Finals. Along with that, the 25-year-old also shared the status of his recovery as he mentioned, “The last injury was very painful because it didn’t allow me to finish the last tournament of the year. The day after the Finals I struggled to get out of bed, I felt so much pain for a couple of weeks. I’m improving but I’m not 100% yet.”

As a new tennis season is about to commence, the Greek surely has the will to be back on the court. While the young star is holding his hopes tight, his words after the injury seemed to have brought him a big regret.

Tsitpas regretful verdict for the fans after his withdrawal from the ATP Finals

While the Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas came forward with an update on his injury, fans remembered his emotional words after the withdrawal. “My apologies to all the fans and the crowd that came to support me today and watch the match. I’m really gutted that I wasn’t able to finish the match, “ the 25-year-old said, as he had to face the unexpected fate.

The effect of withdrawing from the ATP Finals in Turin became even more intense as the event was a repetition in his career. As the same course of events happened two years ago as well, he said, “It’s very unfortunate. I’ve had two editions here in Turin where I had to withdraw from the tournament. Never happened to me before that I had to withdraw.” As the world now looks forward to another update on his recovery process, the tennis star seems to be determined to appear in the upcoming season.
