World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas is hopeful about defending his Monte Carlo Masters crown again which he won in 2021 and defended successfully in 2022. He faced Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in the tournament’s second round and cemented his place in the third round after a walkover was handed to the latter. However, Tsitsipas’ victory over Bonzi was overshadowed by an incident that happened prior to the match.

Tsitsipas had to wait before his match with Bonzi could get underway. During his wait, Tsitsipas fidgeted on a seat as he went from adjusting his hair to snacking on a banana. However, the highlight came when a member of Tsitsipas’ team started applying sunscreen on the Greek superstar. Tennis fans were not pleased at all with what they perceived to be Tsitsipas’ entitlement.

Tennis Channel aired the incident and posted the video on Instagram. It didn’t take long for fans to make their presence felt, and it’s safe to say that many of them were unimpressed with Tsitsipas’ attitude.

User @ukjacky left a short but stinging comment saying, “So entitled.”

It’s safe to say Tsitsipas, a diehard Pete Sampras fan, kept himself entertained during his wait in the players’ lounge. However, his VIP preparation wasn’t worth much in the end as Bonzi sustained an injury during the match. Tsitsipas had won four out of five games in the first set when Bonzi got injured.

Ultimately, it was smooth sailing for the Greek tennis ace into the third round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
