German tennis player Alexander Zverev was competing in Acapulco. He was going well in the singles but sadly lost the doubles match. After losing the match, the 24-year-old player lost his cool and smashed his racquet towards the seated chair umpire.

In doing so, Zverev, who was going well in the singles, was pulled out due to unsportsmanlike behavior. It became a talking point amongst the tennis fraternity. The act of the German player was a talking point on social media and was one of the most trending topics.

Alexander Zverev was the hot topic over the past couple of days
Former World No. 1 Andy Roddick reacted on the subject. He was involved in a conversation with Brad Gilbert on social media concerning the same topic of Zverev’s actions. Brad felt that the German’s partner could have helped calm him down. However, Andy was quick to attack and say that it was not the Brazilian’s job to do so.

Coming on to tennis, Zverev began his season in Melbourne. Sadly, he lost in the fourth round, which was a disappointment according to his standards. Post that, in a minor tournament in Paris, he went down in the final to Bublik.

The next stop for him was Acapulco in Mexico. Sadly, his behavior led to his removal from the tournament. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the case of the World No. 3 player. Nonetheless, we wish him all the best for the season. There is still a lot of tennis left to be played in the calendar year.
