Last week, we saw the last of Roger Federer on the tennis court as a professional player. The Swiss maestro decided that it was time to call an end to his illustrious career that had lasted for more than 20 years. Over the years, he had enthralled fans with his fantastic display of skills on the tennis court.

He played doubles with Rafael Nadal on the inaugural day of this year’s Laver Cup, which proved to be Federer’s last match of his professional tennis career. Subsequently, the entire tennis fraternity, including Nadal, was left emotional after his retirement. Recently, Swiss telecom had a wonderful tribute for Federer.

Swiss telephone operator’s tribute to Roger Federer

The Swiss telephone operator, Sunrise, paid a tribute to its ambassador Roger Federer by temporarily renaming its network. It changed the name of its network to ‘Thanks Roger’ in honor of Federer.

It was a wonderful gesture by Sunrise, expressing gratitude to its homegrown star. As soon as Federer announced the news of his retirement via a note on social media, fans took to platforms like Twitter and Instagram to pay their tributes. Additionally, fellow players and legends in the sporting world also congratulated him on his wonderful career.

The Greece tennis star, who idolizes Federer, had special words for the Swiss Maestro after his retirement. Tsitsipas said, “True gladiators never retire. Roger was winning Majors even before the iPhone was invented. What an icon!”

Tsitsipas had a disappointing ending to this year’s Laver Cup. He lost a decisive match against Frances Tiafoe on the final day of the tournament. As a result, Team World won their maiden Laver Cup title. Subsequently, their captain, John McEnroe, was all smiles after their victory.
