As the dust settled after the intense clash between Djokovic and Sinner at the ATP Finals in Turin, another storm was brewing. Although it was not on the court, but in the aftermath of a controversial photo session. The organizers’ decision to position Djokovic at the tail end of the winners’ photo session and sandwich Sinner in between raised eyebrows.

Fans took to Twitter, expressing their discontent with comments like: “Nobody puts baby in the corner!” and “If they weren’t holding trophies, who would you think won this tournament?”

One observer noted: “I was really surprised watching it and kept thinking they would rearrange the order after the first few photos … but nope 😑.”

Another fan branded the situation as “pathetic,” capturing the utter disappointment.

Meanwhile, a humorous twist emerged as a fan pointed out: “It was so funny; the men on the right side joined later in this photo, making it look like Sinner won the tournament and Novak 2nd. LMAO😅.”

The irony wasn’t lost on a more philosophical supporter who remarked, “Actually, these pathetic revenge attempts make Djokovic’s win even sweeter. You can see how much they suffer when they have to humiliate themselves like this.”

This orchestrated chaos and the fans’ uproar on social media showcased the lingering bitterness. It also sparked a debate on the ethics of the post-match ceremonies. The question still hung up. Why did the photo session overshadow the victory it aimed to celebrate?

Missed opportunity for sportsmanship

Post the ATP Finals mayhem, Turin had a chance to display a better spirit by acknowledging the undeniable victory of Novak Djokovic. Despite Sinner’s advantage and a passionate crowd, Djokovic clinched victory. Although the organizers’ decision to place Djokovic inconspicuously in the photo lineup was definitely not fair.

This prompts a reflection on whether Turin missed an opportunity to demonstrate fair play. And whether they willingly opted for a move that seemed to overshadow Novak Djokovic’s win.
