The 20-year-old Danish tennis player, Holger Rune had a decent run this season winning 44 out of 68 matches. He reached the finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters and Italian Open before featuring in the QFs of the French Open and Wimbledon. Then after the US Open, his performance graph drifted gradually and he brought in the 56YO Legend of the game, Boris Becker to his team. The duo was recently seen practicing in Monte Carlo ahead of an intense 2024 season. Let’s catch up more on this story.

Monte Carlo Country Club is on a hillside facing the scenic turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Despite its name, it’s not located in Monte Carlo or even in Monaco. It’s situated 150 m outside the northeastern border of Monaco. The tennis club has a variety of activities where sports and relaxation come together. Recently Holger Rune, Boris Becker, and their team members were caught up in having their practice sessions here ahead of the 2024 season. Here’s what they say.

Both Rune and Becker looked excited about the venue. Holger Rune shared an Instagram Story which displayed a beautiful court in the middle of mountains and sea. He wrote, ‘Most beautiful tennis club’. Even Becker looked excited as he posted a picture with the team having the beautiful mountains in the background. “Exciting days in Monte-Carlo preparing for 2024! Important to work with Babolat to improve the racquet as well. Always good to see Jean-Christophe Verborg and his team!” he wrote in the caption.

Can Boris Becker give an edge to the Dane ahead of the new season? Well, the former world number one had already made his presence felt in the last few matches. Rune now hopes to outshine Becker’s former student in 2024 to get his first taste of a Grand Slam title.
